Within the last decade or so, the average police supplies and product has changed quite a lot. This change may be for the worst. During the way out of the war in Iraq, many of the weapons that were present or even used in the war have made their way into the hands of more local police departments. These weapons include silencers, grenade launchers, and quite powerful rifles. Even aircrafts and cars that are armored have been handed down. Although police need to be equipped when it comes to violent crimes taking place, many individuals are arguing that this kind of weaponry is much too advanced for police departments. City patrol and police are now beginning to act out as if they were the SWAT team, and SWAT teams are becoming even more aggressive than they already were as a unit. The increase in mass shootings has definitely got local police departments and defense teams on the look out for any suspicious behaviors. It seems that this collection of heavy duty war equipment and attitude has possibly been a result of this era of mass killings. However when it does come down to the mass murders, the SWAT teams and army should become more involved than more regular police departments like they were initially brought to do so. The more weapons that are distributed among authority, the more dilemma and loss of order there will be. Police authority have already been known to abuse their power with these new weapons. When they are called on to a scene they are becoming much too aggressive for minute situations. We are constantly brought to the attention of mass shootings, war incidences, and violent crimes through the news broadcasts, newspapers, and social media. What many people don’t realize because of this is how we are actually at a point in time where crime rates have dove to its deepest depths. If military equipment and strategy needed to be dispersed upon other systems of authority and overall broadened, it would have been at another point in time long ago. Most families and their children especially no longer feel that their local police departments and authority are their friendly neighbors. They have built a very intimidating wall all on their own that has the people questioning their true intentions. Weaponry can make one feel safe only up to a certain point, until the person behind the weapon starts acting more powerful because of it. It seems like it may be easy for the government and city councils to control this available abundance of war gear. However how are these people in charge supposed to deny their own police officers and officials of protecting not only the people’s safety, but their own safety as well?
